  • Tie Summary

USA leads Belgium 5-1 in Fed Cup. The Belgians sole victory came in its only home tie against the Americans, in the 2006 World Group semifinals. They last met in the first round in 2007 when the team of Serena and Venus Williams, Vania King and Lisa Raymond whitewashed their opponents 5-0 in Delray Beach.

Belgium gained promotion to the top tier of Fed Cup for the first time since 2007, after defeating Estonia 3-2 in last April’s World Group play-offs. It has won 10 of its last 12 home ties.

USA has been crowned Fed Cup champion more times than any other nation but has missed out on the title in its last three final appearances in 2003, 2009 and 2010. USA has reached the semifinals of the competition for the last six years.
