  • Tie Summary

An Agnieszka Radwanska-inspired Poland defeated Spain to advance to the World Group. The world No. 3 won all three of the rubbers she played to seal Poland's progress to the competition's highest level. Radwanska scored a comfortable win over Silvia Soler-Espinosa in the opening rubber, but Maria-Theresa Torro-Flor fought back against the younger Radwanska sister, Urszula, to level the tie. After splitting the third and fourth rubbers, the tie came down to the doubles rubber, where Agnieszka teamed with Alicja Rosolska to win in straight sets. The result means that Spain will make an instant return to World Group II, having been promoted in 2013.
