  • Tie Summary

Switzerland made up for its narrow loss to France in February with a convincing away victory over Brazil. 17-year-old Belinda Bencic and Timea Bacsinszky both recorded impressive straight sets wins on the Saturday to leave the Swiss in control going into the second day of play. Teliana Pereira managed to defeat Bencic in the third rubber to give the Brazilians a glimmer of hope, but Bacsinszky held firm to secure her second victory of the weekend, this time against Paula Cristina Goncalves, to keep the Swiss team in World Group II for another year.
