Yes, Mel, Little Mel, Fun Size and Midget. The majority of people call me Little Mel.

If you weren’t a tennis player, what would you be?
A soccer player, in defence.

Which website do you check the most?

What do you regard as your biggest achievement in tennis?
Definitely getting to the quarterfinals of the US Open.

If a movie was made about your life, which actress would you want to play you?
Probably Reese Witherspoon.

What do you do when you’re not playing tennis?
I really like to watch TV and chill, hang out with my friends and go to the movies.

Where is your favourite holiday destination?
I really want to go to the Bahamas.

What is the best Fed Cup atmosphere you’ve played in?
Even though it was against us, it was the match in Belgium. I hate to say it but that’s the most people who’ve watched because Clijsters was playing.

Who is the most famous person in your phone book?
Billie Jean King.

If you were singing karaoke, what song would you pick?
I’d sing Pop, maybe Bruno Mars.

Do you have any pre-match rituals?
Yes. I always like to sit by myself and get in the zone, not talk to anybody.

What was the last music you downloaded on iTunes?
Jason Aldean.

What has been your best Fed Cup moment?
When I played my first Fed Cup match in Arizona and came back to beat Argentina in the first round (2009).

And your worst Fed Cup moment?
Probably in Italy when we lost all of our matches in the final on red clay (2009).

I’m actually a really good speller. I used to win all kinds of spelling bees when I was in school!
