ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN: Hong Kong are the first nation to book their place in this weekend's Asia/Oceania Zone Group II promotion play-off as they finished their round-robin group matches with victory against Vietnam.

Katherine Ip and Venise Chan were once more the players to take on the task of setting up victory with both easing to straight sets victories and guarantee their country a shot at promotion. Chan later paired with Eudice Chong to put the exclamation point on the victory in doubles.

New Zealand put yesterday's defeat to Hong Kong behind them when they faced Turkmenistan as Emma Hayman and Emily Fanning won 24 straight games between them in the two singles rubbers in a combined 78 minutes to put the tie to bed. Hayman and partner Abigail Guthrie showed equal dominance in the third doubles rubber dropping five games in a 64 61 scoreline.

Indonesia have just one hurdle left to go to progress to meet Hong Kong in the promotion play-off tie having now reached a perfect 4-0 record with victory against Malaysia on Thursday.

The Pool B leaders had lost just a single set in their three previous wins and were once again in imperious form losing only four games in six sets. With only one tie left to play against Iran, who have yet to win a rubber this week, they now appear set to progress as group winners.

Kyrgyzstan were the latest nation to score victory of Iran thanks to Arina Beliaeva and Bermet Duvanaeva both winning their singles rubbers in straight sets. Iran showed some fight in the doubles to take the match to three sets but ultimately came out on the losing end once more.

The final tie in that half of the draw saw Philippines beat Pakistan to take sole possession of second place in the group behind Indonesia. With no player over 19-years of age the Philippines are showing they are a team to look out for in the future as they sealed a third straight 3-0 victory having fallen to the group leaders in their first outing.
