OSTRAVA, CZECH REPUBLIC: Safarova acknowledges there were nerves at the beginning of her first match of the tie against Australia's Samantha Stosur but that the crowd were encouraging and she soon relaxed in to the match.

Stosur admits that she missed a lot of shots at the beginning and allowed her opponent to claim the big points but that she is looking forward to tomorrow's challenge against Kvitova.

Petra Kvitova speaks after her straight-sets win against Australia's Jarmila Gajdosova gave the hosts an early lead in Ostrava.

The world No. 8 is happy to be playing at home in her country's first tie as defending Fed Cup champions, and says the weekend is bringing back memories of last year's triumphant finale in Prague.

Gajdosova was upbeat after her loss, and as she tells Chris Bowers, is not troubled by a completely pro-Czech crowd.

Petr Pala is pleased that her players won both rubbers and insisted they key was just to keep them motivated. He also acknowledges that his team still need to get one point but doesn't mind which one.

Alicia Molik insists that the tie is not over and syas that her players will continue to fight tomorrow.
