Podcast - A new hero in town

Podcast

PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC: At the end of every final there always has to be one winner and there always has to be one player who gets the opportunity to win the all-important third point for their country.

In this year's Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final between Czech Republic and Serbia it was the turn of Lucie Safarova to win the decisive point. Having been living in the shadow of Petra Kvitova in recent years it was only fitting that Safarova had her time in the limelight.

The Czech lefthander had never even won a decisive point in any Fed Cup tie before so picked a good time to do it by handing her nation its first-ever home victory in the competition.
