Maria Sharapova talks about her victory over Spain's Silvia Soler-Espinosa in the first rubber of their Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group tie. Although disappointed with a slow start she was pleased to make amends for her loss to Virginie Razzano in her only appearance in 2011.
Svetlana Kuznetsova admits that she was close to not playing in the tie after not feeling well earlier in the week but the prospect of playing in front of a home crowd in Moscow helped to her to get through the match.
Silvia Soler-Espinosa also reflects on her first appearance in Fed Cup and a first set against Sharapova in which both players had opportunities to take control of the match and Carla Suarez Navarro ruminates on the difficulties of Spain playing without their top two ranked women.
