Caroline Wozniacki is going straight from the Australian Open at Melbourne Park to the modest surroundings of the Municipal Tennis Club in Eilat, Israel, but the world No. 1 is excited about the prospect of leading Denmark in this week’s Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Europe/Africa Zone Group I event.
Wozniacki, who is fast becoming a Fed Cup veteran these days having played every year since making her debut back in 2005, explains to Chris Bowers how she sees herself as a role model within a team that doesn’t possess another player inside the world’s Top 500.
Denmark has been drawn in Pool A alongside Switzerland and Great Britain, with only one team progressing to have a chance to compete for a place in April’s World Group II play-offs. The action gets under way on Wednesday.
