How the Rankings Work

The ITF Fed Cup Nations Ranking measures the success of all nations participating in the competition over a rolling four-year period. After each round the ranking period will adjust and any results outside the adjusted four-year period will drop off.

Recent performance is weighted more heavily: points from the second, third and fourth year of the ranking period will be reduced by 25%, 50% and 75% respectively. Therefore, 100 points would become 75, then 50, then 25 over the four years.

Only winning teams can receive points to advance and there are bonus points for any nation that defeats a highly-ranked Fed Cup Nation. Nations that win by walkover will receive round points but no bonus points. No points are awarded for Consolation Events.

• Fed Cup Nations Bonus Points as shown above for defeating other Fed Cup ranked Nations will be added when appropriate to each Tie in World Group and Zone Groups I, II and III;
• Due to the changes in format in the Fed Cup competition in recent years the “Away Bonus” as used in the Davis Cup Nations Ranking does not apply in the Fed Cup Nations Ranking.

Groups I, II and III

In the Groups I, II and III a nation's points are determined by its overall finishing position. Formats vary according to the numbers of nations playing each year so the value of each win alters too. However the maximum points a nation can win at each level remains constant -

Group I - 1,000 points
Group II - 400 points
Group III - 160 points
