Australia will travel to Netherlands to fight for its place in the World Group. The Australians have won eight of their nine encounters with the Dutch.
Last tie 7-8 February 2015
Australia fell to Germany for a second straight year as Andrea Petkovic proved to be too good for both Sam Stosur and Jarmila Gajdosova in two epic matches in Stuttgart. Gajdosova had given the Aussies the perfect start with a victory over Angelique Kerber, but it was the German who won the fourth rubber to clinch the win.
Australia are second on the all-time champions list, having won the title seven times in 1964, 1965, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1973 and 1974. Australia are one of only four nations to have competed in every Fed Cup.
In 1968, Aussie duo Margaret Court and Kerry Melville went into the record books for playing the most number of games in a doubles rubber (51), beating Winnie Shaw and Virginia Wade 97 36 1412.
