Last tie 8-9 February 2014
Australia made light work of an inexperienced Russian team in Hobart taking little time in building a 4-0 scoreline. Casey Dellacqua defeated Irina Khromacheva leaving Samantha Stosur to put the hosts in an unassailable position by dropping just nine games in her two singles rubbers. Dellacqua paired with Ashleigh Barty in the doubles to add to the score.
Australia are second on the all-time champions list, having won the title seven times in 1964, 1965, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1973 and 1974. Australia are one of only four nations to have competed in every Fed Cup.
In 1968, Aussie duo Margaret Court and Kerry Melville went into the record books for playing the most number of games in a doubles rubber (51), beating Winnie Shaw and Virginia Wade 97 36 1412.
