Austria suffered narrow 2-1 defeats to Belarus and Croatia but avoided slipping into the relegation Play-offs by defeating Georgia 3-0 in its final round-robin tie. Austria tied Portugal for 9th place after defeating Romania 2-1 on a deciding doubles rubber.
