Next tie 2016
France will contest the 2016 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group after losing 3-1 to Czech Republic in April's semifinals. The draw for the 2016 event will take place on 3 June in Paris.
Last tie 18-19 April 2015
France was overpowered in Ostrava by the defending champions Czech Republic in April's semifinals. Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic fell to Lucie Safarova and Petra Kvitova in the opening three singles rubbers but the French did score a consolation point in the dead doubles rubber to make the final score 3-1.
France were crowned champions in both 1997 and 2003. They also reached the Final in 2004 and 2005 and are one of only four nations to compete in every Fed Cup.
In 1997, France's World Group first round tie against Japan entered the record books on three counts - most number of games in a tie (162) and joint most number of games in a rubber (54) and set (32), when Nathalie Tauziat defeated Naoko Sawamatsu 75 46 1715.
