Last tie 18-19 April 2015
Germany fell to a devastating 3-2 loss against Russia at the Adler Arena in Sochi. With the late withdrawal of world No. 2 Maria Sharapova, it looked to be advantage Germany, but Barbara Rittner rested her two best singles players on day one and Germany fell to a 2-0 deficit. Andrea Petkovic and Angelique Kerber brought the score back to 2-2, but hometown hero Elena Vesnina partnered Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to victory in the doubles to hand the hosts a great win.
Germany have won the Fed Cup title on two occasions - in 1987 and 1992 - and currently lie in joint-seventh place on the all-time list of champions. Until 1990, German players represented F.R. Germany.
