Next tie 2013
Greece will play in Europe/Africa Zone Group II for 2013 having been relegated from Group I.
Last tie 1-4 February 2012
Having won a relegation play-off in 2011 Greece were not so fortunate this time around losing to Luxembourg 10-8 in a third set tie-break during a deciding doubles rubber. Missing their top ranked player Eleni Daniilidou they slipped to defeat Sweden, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Hungary in the round-robin phase before defeat in the relegation play-off consigned them to life in Group II for 2013.
History
Greece made their Fed Cup debut in 1968 and consistently appeared in the competition's top tier until 1991. Greece's Denise Panagopoulou is the youngest player in the competition's history, having played against Portugal in 1977 at the age of 12 years, 360 days (Fed Cup regulations no longer permit players aged under 14 to participate in the competition).
