Next tie 2014
Hong Kong will compete in Asia/Oceania Zone Group II in 2014 - its seventh successive year at this level.
Last tie 4-10 Feb 2013
Hong Kong narrowly missed out on promotion to Asia/Oceania Zone Group I after losing the Group II promotional play-off tie for the third year running. Wins against New Zealand, Turkmenistan, Singapore and Vietnam in the round-robin stage gave the team the chance for promotion against Indonesia. But the opportunity soon slipped away when Hong Kong's Katherine Ip lost the first rubber by the narrowest of margins to Lavinia Tananta, going down 61 46 76(4), before Venise Chan's defeat in the second singles rubber consigned Hong Kong to Group II for yet another season.
History
Hong Kong finished third in Asia/Oceania Zone Group I in 1995. They also reached the last 16 of the competition in 1982 and 1990 when it was played in a week-long format.
