Serbia has been relegated to Europe/Africa Zone Group I for the 2015 season. The draw takes place closer to the event.

Serbia succumbed to defeat against a talented Romania team which means that the 2012 finalists will now have to compete in Europe/Africa Zone Group I next year. Sorana Cirstea downed Ana Ivanovic in three sets before Bojana Jovanovski's matchup with world No. 5 Simona Halep was halted mid-way through the first set due to rain. The Romanian eventually in straight sets, but Ivanovic captialised on the extra rest, defeating Halep to haul the Serbs back into the tie. Jovanovski attempted to salvage something for Serbia in the fourth rubber, but Cirstea eventually won a dramatic clash in three sets to seal Serbia's fate.
Serbia made their Fed Cup debut in 1995, competing as Yugoslavia between 1995 and 2003, and as Serbia & Montenegro between 2004 and 2006. 2012 was by far Serbia's best in the competition as they went all the way to the final, narrowly losing out to Czech Republic.
