Next tie 2017
Serbia has been relegated from World Group II and will compete in Europe/Africa Zone Group I in 2017.
Last tie 16-17 April 2016
Bereft of some key players, including Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, Serbia was beaten at home by Belgium in its World Group II play-offs. Aleksandra Krunic beat Kirsten Flipkens to put Serbia ahead, but two wins for Yanina Wickmayer set Belgium on its way before Flipkens wrapped up the tie against Ivana Jorovic. Serbia, finalists just four years ago, now must compete for promotion in Zone Group I in 2017.
Serbia made their Fed Cup debut in 1995, competing as Yugoslavia between 1995 and 2003, and as Serbia & Montenegro between 2004 and 2006. 2012 was by far Serbia's best in the competition as they went all the way to the final, narrowly losing out to Czech Republic.
