Serbia will host Spain in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group II first round. This will be the third meeting between the two nations and Serbia have won both of the previous ties. Once as Yugoslavia in 1979 and once as Serbia in 2009.

Serbia completed its immediate return to World Group II thanks to a comfortable 4-1 win over Paraguay in the World Group II play-offs. Aleksandra Krunic and Ana Ivanovic won both singles rubbers on the opening day, before Veronica Cepede Royg kept the tie alive defeating Ivana Jorovic. Krunic then sealed the tie for Serbia before teaming up with Jorovic to win the doubles rubber, sealing a 4-1 victory.
History Serbia made their Fed Cup debut in 1995, competing as Yugoslavia between 1995 and 2003, and as Serbia & Montenegro between 2004 and 2006. 2012 was by far Serbia's best in the competition as they went all the way to the final, narrowly losing out to Czech Republic.
