12 Jun 2007 - The Stadium at Topnotch, Stowe, Vermont, USA
USA vs Russia semifinal sold out
The Fed Cup by BNP Paribas semifinal between USA and Russia at Stowe’s Topnotch Resort and Spa in Vermont has sold out.

Tickets for the event went on sale on Tuesday, June 5, and sold so quickly that USTA officials increased the number of seats in the stadium, specially constructed for this semifinal, from 3,000 to 4,100. This is the fastest home sell-out for the U.S. Fed Cup team since the 2003 quarterfinal in Lowell, Massachusetts when the U.S. defeated the Czech Republic, 5-0.

The players for both teams have yet to be announced, but will be named at least 10 days prior to the tie.

The Russian captain, Shamil Tarpishchev, can choose from world No. 2 Maria Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Anna Chakvetadze and Nadia Petrova along with six other Russian players ranked in the top 20.

For the United States, captained by Zina Garrison, Serena Williams and Venus Williams are the senior members along with the world’s No.1 doubles player, Lisa Raymond. Outside of these, the next three ranked players sit at 39th, 61st and 63rd respectively.

The last time the two teams met, was in Moscow in 2005 where the Russians came out on top 4-1.
