The draw for the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group and World Group II Play-offs (24-25 April) took place in London on Wednesday.
Having sealed its spot in the World Group Play-offs with a narrow victory over Poland in Bydgoszcz, Belgium has been rewarded with a home tie against Estonia.
Sabine Appelmans, Belgium’s captain, will be hoping she has a full squad to choose from with Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin and Yanina Wickmayer all in the frame.
Estonia, meanwhile, is currently enjoying its best ever Fed Cup run and will vying to reach the reach the World Group for the first time. It booked a place in the Play-offs with a routine win over Argentina.
Australia will have a chance to return to the World Group for the first time since 2004 when it travels to Ukraine, where the Bondarenko sisters will likely lie in wait.
Germany and France lost in the World Group first round to Czech Republic and USA respectively. The two nations have met on five previous occasions, with the French currently holding a 3-2 advantage in their head-to-head count.
After being edged out by Russia at the weekend, Serbia will again play at home in the Play-offs against Slovak Republic. Both nations have two highly ranked players in their ranks – Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic for Serbia and Daniela Hantuchova and Dominika Cibulkova for Slovak Republic.
In the World Group II Play-offs, Poland plays Spain at home, Sweden hosts China, Canada welcomes Argentina, and Slovenia has a home tie against Japan.
