At the USA F21 tournament held at the Western Racquet Club in Milwaukee, WI, USA the week commencing August 4th 2008, America’s Jeff Tarango, just three months short of his 40th birthday, took part in an ITF Men’s Circuit tournament for the first time. Since retiring from professional tennis towards the end of 2003, Tarango, runner-up in the 1999 men’s doubles final with Goran Ivanisevic at Roland Garros, has devoted his time to coaching.

In May of 2008 he made a return to professional tennis with an appearance in the doubles event as a Wildcard entrant at the Carson Challenger losing in the quarterfinal. In Milwaukee, Tarango entered into the singles qualifying event where he lost in the third round following two impressive victories in the first two rounds.

He also received a Wildcard into the doubles event and with partner Edward Kelly, who, at the age of 20, was nineteen years his junior, claimed the title with a thrilling three set victory 63 36 [11-9].

Unseeded 22-year old Daniel Yoo from Korea won the singles title, the first Futures singles title of his career, with victory over 23-year old 6th seeded American Ryan Young. Daniel’s 62 61 triumph leaves Ryan, who was playing in his third career Futures singles final, still waiting for a first singles title.
