In 2009, Brazil defeated Puerto Rico in an Americas Zone Group I relegation play-off and remains in that group for 2010. Brazil had previously finished as runner-up in this zone for three successive years, 2006-08.

Best Fed Cup performance: Quarterfinals - 1965, 1982.

Brazil also reached the World Group Play-offs in 2003 and 2004.
