Germany is travelling to Slovenia in the World Group II first round in February. The two nations have never previously met.

Last tie
Germany suffered relegation following a 3-2 defeat to France in the World Group play-offs in Frankfurt. The tie was decided in the fifth rubber, when French duo Julie Coin and Alize Cornet sealed victory.

History
Germany was crowned champion in 1987 and 1992. Prior to winning its first title, the team lost in four Finals. The Germans competed as West Germany from 1963 to 1989.
