Ukraine is travelling to Sweden in the World Group II first round in February. Sweden has won both previous ties between the two nations, in 1997 and 1998.

Last tie
Ukraine was whitewashed 5-0 by Australia in the World Group play-offs in Kharkiv. Anastasia Rodionova set the tone for the visitors - defeating Alona Bondarenko - and then Samantha Stosur won the decisive two singles rubbers.
