NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters

NEC logoAs one of the most prestigious event on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour, the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters invites the top eight men and women along with the top four quads based on the singles ranking, as it stands after the US Open.

The round robin format, akin to the ATP World Tour Finals and WTA Championships, guarantees a player must face at least four of the top eight players in the world to gain the title.

The event was held in Mechelen, Belgium, for the first time in 2011 having previously been hosted by a number of cities in the Netherlands.

The 2012 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters will be held form 7-11 November, again in Mechelen, Belgium.

The NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters was initiated in 1994 to honour the top players who have shown dedication and professionalism to the sport, and it has fast became the most coveted trophy amongst the top players. At the same time it is an opportunity to show the general public and media that wheelchair tennis played at its highest level is not only challenging and dynamic, but also an exciting sport to watch.

After six successful years at its original home of the Indoor Sport Centre in Eindhoven, the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters moved in 2000, to Amersfoort, where an independent group had purchased the organising rights for this unique event. In 2006, the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters took place for the first time in Amsterdam at the Frans Otten Stadium where it remained until 2010.
